Launch of InnovFin Energy Demonstration Projects (EDP) facility to support energy innovators

We are happy to inform you that the EIB Group and the European Commission have just launched the Energy Demo Projects (EDP) facility under the InnovFin umbrella to provide risk financing and boost the competitiveness of innovative energy technology companies in Europe. Carlos Moedas, Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, signed the required amendment to the InnovFin Delegation Agreement today, 15 June 2015 at the Access to Finance for Research, Innovation and SMEs 2015 Conference in Riga, Latvia. (link to press release: EIB Group and EC expand support for innovative companies across Europe) The new facility will support cutting-edge energy technology projects that may otherwise not be bankable during their pre-commercial stage, covering the higher risk faced during the construction and initial operating stages. Specifically, InnovFin Energy Demo Projects will provide loans to first-of-a-kind commercial-scale industrial demonstration projects in the fields of renewable energy and hydrogen and fuel cells, helping to bridge the gap from demonstration to commercialisation and contributing to the broader objectives of the Energy Union and the Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan. A dedicated funding window will be open on the EIB website in the course of this week.  Further information about how to apply can be obtained from Ms Milena Messori, New Products & Special Transactions, EIB, T: +352 4379 85002, E-mail: m.messori@eib.org
