EU Green Week 2021 – Zero Pollution

The EU Action Plan toward a Zero Pollution Ambition is a key action of the European Green Deal scheduled for spring 2021. It will help to create a toxic-free environment across the EU by better monitoring, reporting, and by preventing and remedying pollution from air, water, soil, and consumer products. It will also support the post-COVID 19 recovery by helping to rebuild a more sustainable EU economy, creating job opportunities and reducing social inequalities. The European Green Week 2021 will be dedicated to the ‘zero pollution ambition’.

Environment, Human Rights and Business: a framework for addressing environmental protection challenges

The German Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers, in cooperation with the Steering Committee for Human Rights, will hold a high-level online workshop on the topic “Environment, Human Rights and Business: a framework for addressing environmental protection challenges” on 27 April 2021 from 9:00 to 13:30 via the KUDO videoconference platform. The workshop will raise awareness on the intersection of environment protection, human rights and business responsibilities.

International Mother Earth Day - 22 April

The General Assembly designated 22 April as International Mother Earth Day through a resolution adopted in 2009.The original roots go back to the 1970s when environmental protection was not yet a priority of the national political agendas. The United Nations celebrates it through the Harmony with Nature initiative, a platform for global sustainable development that celebrates annually an interactive dialogue on International Mother Earth Day.
